Immigrating to the United States in 1957, his long career in Seafood started with Acme Markets. Philadelphia, as a seafood department clerk. During the next several years, Gus was promoted to a variety of management positions in seafood merchandising and operations. He worked with retail firms such as Penn Fruit Company and Hills Supermarkets in New York, and finally as Director of Seafood Merchandising and Operations with First National Stores. Boston. Seizing an opportunity to open his own business and expand on his knowledge of the seafood industry, Gus opened his company in 1974, for the primary purpose of providing a service to supermarket chains and wholesale outlets throughout the United States. Gus developed Aslanis Seafood's into one of the industry's most creative and innovative companies serving all classes of domestic and international trade. In 1992, Gus purchased a former meat processing facility in Quincy, Massachusetts. He converted the plant into a 21st century state-of-the-art seafood facility This new processing and packaging facility, all under the FDA HAACP program, services the seafood needs of all Aslanis customers in the most professional manner possible.
