Immigrating to the United States in 1957, his long career in Seafood started with Acme Markets. Philadelphia, as a seafood department clerk. During the next several years, Gus was promoted to a variety of management positions in seafood merchandising and operations. He worked with retail firms such as Penn Fruit Company and Hills Supermarkets in New York, and finally as Director of Seafood Merchandising and Operations with First National Stores. Boston.
